			About Dr. John Pylant Monhollon
			Dr. Monhollon is a board certified Family Physician who has completed an internship in pathology and three years of residency training in family practice. He was a Hospitalist in Hampton, VA until he was able to devote full time to integrative medicine. He is also a registered nurse.
			Personal History Born in Richmond, VA the youngest of four, Dr. Monhollon grew up in the states of Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina.
			He was raised in the nurturing environment of the Christian home provided by his accomplished parents Jimmie and Lake Monhollon.
			He became interested in nutrition at age twelve when his father brought home an eye-opening article from Executive Health Magazine about the ill effects of sugar.
			Giving up desserts at that young age was to be one of many departures from lockstep with his peers. The next step in his journey into health awareness was in 1982 when he attended a lecture given by the prolific author Gary Null. The next day, even as he ate a beef taco at his eighteenth birthday party, Dr. Monhollon pondered Dr. Null’s words about vegetarianism. That taco turned out to be the last morsel of flesh food that has crossed Dr. Monhollon’s lips. Dr. Monhollon spent the next summer making fresh vegetable juice for his beloved elderly grandma, Lola Monhollon, in an effort to relieve her arthritic pain and rejuvenate her.

Dr. Monhollon’s determination to become a medical doctor heightened in his teens when he began to realize that there were unhealthy biases and blind spots in the prevailing worldview of the medical industry.
In particular, since he came to believe that improper nutrition was at the root of most of our sickness, attention to proper nutrition was conspicuously lacking in the medical world. He believed that he could have a stronger positive impact by working on the inside rather than by complaining about the situation from outside the industry.
Dr. Monhollon currently provides primary care from a holistic standpoint at Florida Integrative Medical Centers on Florida’s west coast.
